Right, although it's all exciting stuff I've really got to go QRT now. I did break off from a visit from the grandchildren (all six of them so glad of a short break!) but must get back before they go.
All the best to everyone that got through and very well done Craig for controlling the net and a big thanks to our John H. for bringing this back to fruition.

Although I didn't make any contact, it seems tonight's little adventure was a success. Does that mean it will become a regular thing from now on?

Thank you for running the net Craig. Sorry I disappeared for a bit but I came back as you talked about football.
I heard quite a few, some quite weak and some quite strong. Craig was the most consistent at 59. Nice to hear and work John G0DNV I did just hear Victor when he was speaking to Craig but a QSO most likely not possible.
Anyway it made a nice change to banging away on FT8.
Cheers to all that gave it a go.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to catch you there Mike and I hope I get the opportunity another time. (You were a good 5/7 - 5/9 with me.)
Well done to you Mark (13oots2) for tuning in. Never stop trying my friend as even I got there eventually!
Thanks John H. for the QRZ confirmation, was a thrill to see a star next to a SSB contact in my logs.
Apologies to those I didn't hear but really looking forward to further nets and maybe catching more of you.
I'd like to sincerely thank all of you gentlemen that got involved with this, it really was a pleasure for me to gain contact with at least a couple of you and boosted my own confidence no end for some HF voice operating. Was great to hear the voices of many wonderful CT members that frequent the forum.
Brain is rattling now, how am I going to launch a bigger antenna over the house?...slingshot?....gas mortar?.....pneumatic air cannon? (Too old and buggered to be physically throwing one over!)
Either way it really brought some excitement to me and I'd like to grab more of that action. (Think you noticed Craig with our initial contact....couldn't contain myself! )
Sorry I had to shoot off early and wouldn't you know it.....the grandchildren hadn't even noticed I was gone!
All my very best to you all, Victor

Think i could hear all that called in but one or two to far back in the box for a contact. I was not fast enough on the key i think as every time i called some other station was there first or stronger than me my money is on the latter lol. I just sat back and listened was nice to hear voices of forum members especially Victor but again to far back in the box i think for a conversation but one day i hope. Thanks Craig will try again next time.

I took a look at it & it’s totally beyond my extremely limited computer skills!
Probably won’t be able to get it anyway as I’m possibly the only ham in the world that don’t have a unusable PC, nowadays I only have a iPad…

I wouldn't worry there John, I only got dragged kicking & screaming back into the computer age due to this here Charlie Tango.
I started off with a phone, then Android tablet, dragged my 2007 PC into working order with Linux and then more recently my wife gifted me with a laptop.....damned thing constantly eats my time up with 'windoze' problems & updates!!
At least now I know that should it all go pear-shaped, I can rely on my radio....and a bit of voice.
(Be a bit hard to allocate call signs though! )

That is ok John, thank you for the QRZ confirmation btw. I do QSL via most methods, with digital every QSO is automatically up loaded to eQSL, QRZ and LOTW. Plus now I have a proper paper QSL so if anyone wants one they can go via the bureau or I send direct.
When I enter phone or other modes in HRD they automatically go up to eQSL plus I send them to LOTW manually.

Would be good to catch you on air Gary my friend and this type of net does at least give some of us the opportunity to do so. (I'm still stoked at catching our Craig and John H!)
Very much looking forward to the next.
Enjoy your holiday mate.

Hi Vic, yes it would be good to finally make the contact. I've got Craig in the log so would be nice to get a few more of our team and members as well.
We're in Anglesey for the week as always I brought my 2/70 handheld but nothing heard as yet.
I can't do next Thursday but definitely the following one of everyone is up for it.
All the best mate.

7 PM, + or - 7180?
I’ll be there as long as I can drag myself away from the sensational DX to be had on 10 Metres at present…

I'll definitely be up for trying again.
I had success in getting an EFHW wire over the house but blow me the damn thing was so noisy and worse than my current attic lawnmower lead affair that it's back down. So apologies for my piddly little QRP station signal.
Oh, if I manage to catch our John.H or Craig again how do you lot feel about multiple log entries? To me it seems obvious to log any contact no matter how often they occur but I've mainly been used to the FT8 side of things and getting screams of "No Dupes!"

Hopefully talk again tonight Victor.
I’ve no idea how things like that work on FT8, but on SSB & CW (apart from contests) it’s certainly the done thing to log & QSO more than once.
eg. I’ve struck up a lasting friendship after a very long QSO one evening on 80 Metres with SP9EML way back in 1987! We had a weekly sked on 80 Metres for years until I went QRT around ‘94 or ‘95. Afterwards we stayed in contact, first by post then email. 30 years later we finally arranged to meet up on the neutral territory of Gran Canaria! Me & Sheila had a great week there with Mit and Sophie (his XYL) and hope to repeat the experience sometime in the future. We’ve also had visitors here in Barnstaple from Dutch, French and Italian hams. I can’t imagine those sort of friendships being created on a soulless mode like FT8…
Back on topic, for the most sought after DXepeditions it’s gentlemanly’ to work them only once per mode/band.
