Subject: Replacement of 5/8 Silver Rod Wed Jul 12, 2023 9:42 am
Just replaced my 5/8th`s Silver Rod due to Swr kept getting higher everytime i used it and was getting tired of lowering mounting pole to adjust Swr and then put up and check for it to yet again say Swr was good until 2 days later and starts creeping above 1.5 throughout the channels.
Any bought and installed a 1/2 wave Antron 99 and must say after getting round the stupid little mounting ubolts they send and a quick trip to a local tyre fitting unit for some 53mm ubolts and a bit of weilding later it was mounted and must say must be 1 of the easiest Antenna to set Swr and would recomend to anybody who`s putting up there first homebase Antenna.
Have given Antron a few checks and Swr is 1.0 threw out the Muppets and 1.0 to 1.2 when Modulating on upper and radio checks been coming back good, Just now to boost it up anotherĀ 15 ft but thats a job for weekend.

As you say Paul, great antenna for getting a low SWR easily, as I have moved on to the ham side of things mine went to Wheelnut. He is now enjoying great success with it, if he gets it up any higher he will be poking holes in the sky.

On my Ham 2m/70cm i use diamond 301N which is another Fiberglass antenna but the Swr on that is just plug and go and the gain is unbelievable as hit Northhamptonshire from Stevenage on 5W and is like being in the same room as them.
