I had a CB radio 'back in the day' I would like to get back into the hobby but was wondering if anyone around NE Lincs is on air?

Hello Nick,
Welcome to Charlie Tango DX.
I couldn't tell you personally if anyone is on-air in your area but you couldn't do worse than take a listen to a local web based receiver and have a scan yourself.
The Finningley Amateur Radio Society (call sign G0GHK) have a KiwiSDR receiver based between Doncaster and Scunthorpe and can be found on the following link :-
http://rx.linkfanel.net/
Just zoom into the map for the UK until you see the G0GHK map point, click on it to activate the web receiver and enter a typical CB frequency into the receiver box. If there's any local activity you should be able to see it on the waterfall and click/tune to it to see who is on air.
You should also be able to hear any international DX activity if conditions are good as well. (CB activity nowadays can often include SSB or sideband action.)
I hope that helps you out before committing to equipment purchases.
All the best, Victor
