Hi Bernie, Does an Error flash up when it screeches, and does it happen every time you switch on?

I get it sometimes with my 9900. Sounds like feedback.
I wonder if it's when the mic is close to the rig on switch on. Not transmitting of course , I have an external speaker next to it, in the car. But I think it did it before I installed that.
So not sure what's causing it, it's intermittent,

Sorry chaps it is on my 9900 not the 6900 wot a pillock. Tony, no error message just a screech, but if like Sharpshooter says it could be feedback as the startup voltage is quite high. It happens sometimes so may need to make notice of where the mike is on startup. It may even be low voltage supply from the leisure battery, dunno.

Yes definitely feedback !!!! Because the mike is to close to the speaker or headphones on startup, problem solved. Sharpshooter well spotted Sir

A number of people have this problem with the ss9900, a ferrite bead on the mic cable or a different mic have both completely cured the problem without having to think about how far apart thins are.
Edited to add: I won't even mention that if talkback is on (even very low) it could cause the problem.

Another mike? Hmm only seems to happen with the standard mike, my K-po NM532 seems OK. And the NOG is off. Anyway all sorted now. Thank all

Ok Bernie, you didn't mention that it only happens with the stock mic. That is widely known & reported on the net! For future reference it makes things much easier if you state all the facts when asking for help.
ps. Glad your new static mobile antenna is doing better than the old one. I can at least hear you dulcet tones a tad when you are in West Sussex.

Bernie, I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way. Please ask questions, my only point was that a more informed answer can be given with the relevant info.

No more Questions from here. This is after all an open public forum, I don't expect this as an answer.
