Hello all, looks like a great site.
I've not been on the CB since about 1990 so a long time ago.
I first started in 1981 aged 14 with an Amstrad 901 bought out of my mates mums catalogue (remember them?) Like all hobbies I get into, I fully immerse myself in it and the next rig I had was a brand new NATO 2000 & got into SSB on the "naughty channels" and was part of the YANKEE ZULU DX Group in Walsall.
Swapped the NATO for a COLT EXCALIBUR SSB Home base (Bronze colored Ham Jumbo) lovely bit of kit that was.
Swapped that for a SUPER STAR 2000.
Swapped that for a Cobra 148GTL DX not sure which MK it was but brilliant rig that was.
Ended up swapping that back to a NATO 2000 again as I really loved that radio, a little rougher than my original but I still have that today, just dug it out of the loft and will fire it up at the weekend.
I had a few walkie talkies too... Harvard 410T, Realistic TRC 1001, both long gone & a HAM International 8040 AM 80 channel which I still have and just retrieved from the loft with the NATO.
Having watched Fred in The Shed videos for several years I've decided to dip my toe in once again & bought a Thunderpole TX hand held at Christmas which is a nice radio but soon needed something a bit more powerful and have now bought a CRT SS 9900 which I've only tried briefly last night in the car with good results running through a Sirio 145 mag mount.
I'm now looking at base antennas. I had a half wave Silver Rod back in the day but I'm now looking at the Solarcon A99 with Firestick upgrade or the Thunderpole 5... thoughts / recommendations welcome?
Well that's me, hope I've not bored you all to death with my intro & look forward to being an active member of this community and receiving my Charlie Tango call sign.

Hello and welcome, Mic.
That is a fantastic intro. You have owned some cool radios in the past. I still enjoy using my old radios. My Stalker 9fdx and Superstar 360fm mk2 (the brother of the 148gtl dx) being my favourites.
Victor or Gary will be along to issue you with a call-sign.

Sorry to be a pain but just checked the directory and noticed I must have made a typo in my profile. I’d put Brntwood as my home town and you read it as Brentwood.
It is in fact Burntwood, can this be changed in the directory please?
Once again apologies for the typo.
