Pleased to make contact with this special event station marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Le Muy.
Also special for my husband, Alex, who's father dropped by parachute in the first wave.

Always great to catch a special event station Deb especially anything close to heart and I thank the people that get involved to run such operations let alone all those that call in to make them successful.
Great posting. Thanks.
All the best, Victor

Got the special event station in the log this morning on 17m CW. No connected claims to fame in my family, one grand father was a US service man, and the other I don't believe fought in any way being out in Uganda at that time. Happy for you that you've got a meaningful connection with the special call.

Thank you both for your kind words.
We should have been there for the 80th anniversary, but family being here until the 14th, and Alex being unwell, meant we had to miss it.
Alexander senior was awarded the Legion d'honneur in 2010 presented in London by President Sarkozy.
Sadly, he passed away in October 2020.

Hi Deb,
Good to catch a special event station with a poignant meaning.
My grandparents all went through the war. My grandmother's first husband died on a Japanese prisoner of war ship that was unfortunately sunk my the US. My dad was able to put flowers on his grave on a business trip to Singapore. Her second husband and my grandfather was a regular when the war started and was in Egypt and France.
My dad's father was ground crew around London at RAF bases. He would fuel and arm the fighters before a scramble. His main job, would you believe, was to do with radio.
To my lasting regret, I always wished I had spoken more to them about their experiences in the war. The popular narrative at the time was of old timers boring everyone about the war.... but, all my grandparents were reluctant to talk about their experiences, as they simply wanted to forget them. Who can blame them?!
73s John.
