been in the garden this weekend twiddling with my twigs. i have four points and each one has its own cable and all run to the shack (upstairs back bed room)
Anyway as you do I have been installing each one with what i think is the best coax for the job and the best i could afford. I am happy with it all, swr is low and noise is good too.
Where I wonder is like a lot of others is with the RF Gnd.
what i have at the moment is a seperate ground running 16mm2 earth cable to a fixed earth ground bar with bulkhead connectors running through it. All the feeds terminate into it and small leads run to the radios or i can go direct to the radio if i wish.
heres some pictures
heres a rough lay out of the cable runs in the garden
and doodles
the land lay out
present cable runs in use HF and U/VHF
and my present set up
that just leaves the questions how good is it and can it get improved or made safer?
for lightning i just disconnect every thing
for RF gnd its okay i think but what do i know?
maybe i should have the lot grounded at scource and then run to the shack.
what do you think of it?
