I recently took one of these radio's in a deal. It's less than 1yr old. Working the radio isn't a problem. The problem is i want to re-program it to my settings. I run Windows 10 and i've tried all sorts of Prolific drivers. The software is a version 1.00. Don't know if there's been an update but can't find any. Even tried 2 programming leads and on a Windows 7 PC, still nowt.
Anyone got any other idea's.
Cheers.
Paul.

I don't think there are any revisions after 1.00 I use windows 7 for anything radio, win 10 is a pain. In my case I didn't load any drivers. Just plugged the usb lead in and it was recognised.
Do you get the - der donk - sound when you plug the lead in? Can you delete all the drivers you have tried, so that windows sorts out the right one?

you need this. Not been blocked by Windows 10 copywrite protection of anything Chinese. CP2102.

This is my switch position on the device, RX TX is reversed to whatever you connect to. These SiLabs drivers are not blocked. This particular device will work with any system.

I would need to see original lead and the socket on the motherboard but basically there is a TX transmit and RX receive , so two feeds one in one out. The original cable would need to be cut and then connected to this new interface board.

Original cable melted at the small 3 pin plug when my mate and i tried to read from his Intek HR 5500. I would need to get another cable. Paul

That's the cable my mate has. Mine was one length with no jack socket. His won't work on either radio as well. Is this the same as your's.

similar, there maybe 4 version of CP2102, i brought the 6 in 1 so it can be used across a wide variety of device's to be programmed by changing the little dip switches on bored but most the basic ones will work. Really need to see inside the original device for the connections. Looks like 3 wires out must be TX RX and i assume earth return. Trying to find any info on net if any one used the new CP2102 for programming the 6900.

Thank for your help and info. I'll look into it tomorrow. The radio is programmed but not to my liking. If all else fails i'll just sell it on as i don't really need it. I only took it to help a mate out.
Cheers.
Paul.

Really need to see the original unit opened up to clone the wiring. Don't know if you any good with electronics and soldering, if not you need to find someone local who is. Otherwise you will need to use old computer W7 or something with the old non prolific drivers. Updated Windows 10 have started blocking non original devices because of royalty claims on the drivers. I'm guessing a lot of the cables being sold are the copy chips in the cable. CP2102 is royalty free so is easy driver install.

I like the President Lincoln 2. Nice radio. I have an old Dell Latitude laptop in the attic with Windows ME loaded. I'll give it a try tomorrow.
Thanks guys.

yeah i was going to buy a new 7900 but then some one said this Lincoln local for sale so i went for it. Works really good but i hate the front panel. In the car i cant read the display too small and the button layout is diabolic. The CRT lot more car friendly. So if anyone fancies a swap for a Lincoln Im up for it. Otherwise i will sell and buy a CRT.

I'd be interested. Depending on the deal. Mine is boxed with all the bits and a modular to 6 pin adapter.
Channel 1 on uk40 is actually uk19 somehow, but apart from that 100%.

yeah this Lincoln was as new in the box still packed. Slight paint off marks on the edges from mounting in out of car otherwise perfect. I'm not looking for profit on it just straight swap for a CRT.

Ok. I'll do a swap if you're interested. I'll send some pics in the morning. Some very light marks on this as well but front is mint.
