Not much radio use around our way ATM ,reason is we have the local idiot lot from theĀ Muppet FM bands have come out of the woodwork and they have brought new toys, using large amps and new bigger antennas so they decided to cause trouble by blocking all radio on different modes for the fun of it , the biggest laugh is three of them are licensed Amateurs and even when reported to Ofcom and the RSGB nothing is ever done and they have been doing this for years , wanted to swear then about them but I won't because they remind me of something that I have accidentally stepped in that smells.

Nothing worse than inconsiderate radio operators Martin, especially if it ruins your own enjoyment and pursuit of radio.
I still think the best attitude is not to bite, (hard to do I know!) They soon clear off when it's no longer "fun" for them and usually that means nothing more than provoking a reaction.
Just like the proverbial turd on the pavement they're fairly easy to step around. (They can only be on one frequency at a time!)
Just think, with OfCom's new EMF regulations they'll have better powers to shut down such stations.
But there is still no better sense of satisfaction than ceasing your transmissions whilst they prattle away on their own to a frequency bereft of an audience.....until they realise. Then they can go back to the forums disagreeing with everything or clicking downward pointy thumbs on YouTube.
I hope you have a great weekend Martin.
Don't let the bar-stewards get you down. Ā

Wow sorry to hear about those issues Martin.
During the past week there were some quiet periods, but then some really active times and several QSOs going on at the same time across different channels.
There is a 24h competition on CB frequencies here running from 3pm today. I didn't enter, but will be on air to help the stations in range get some points.

I'm use to these idiots TBH because as I siad they have been around for years so we all know who they are and we know sort of know where they live , if it was like the old says it would have been delt with in our own way but getting too old that now plus its also getting dangerous,Ā its about 6 of them they are like the school bullies that haven't grown up lol ,typically when not all together and on there ownĀ they keep quiet ,perhaps this new EMF law might help i cant do anything but a couple of my Amateur mates might be able to cos this lot are bugging them too.

The competition is on EU FM CB and they have to use equipment within the legal power etc. I imagine they will CQ on FM01 (the usual call channel) and then move to other channels. You're likely to be able to hear some of it on the Kiwi's over here, if they are not full up all the time - try Hasenberg, Russlikon and Obere Warte. There are points for distance (but only to the borders, if a QSO is with a cross-border station they get the distance to the edge of Switzerland), and for duration with QSOs over 10 minutes gaining extra multiplication factors. The competition stations usually situate themselves on very high points, although today it's a bit wet and windy so it could be a challenge up there!

Remedial class springs to mind but not sure. Me 64 and like you say they didn't recognise it back then you where just "thick" but i was good with numbers. I went into the spanners as i loved cars but a bad accident put pay to that had to give it up at 45 but i did work for many years but it got the best of me in the end.(19 when i had the accident).
Strange how a topic stray's lol. From 11m conditions to health conditions we must try to get back on topic.

Off topic: Pretty certain I would of been diagnosed with some physical and mental conditions if had been born and raised today, like some others of us here possibly, but the world is very different place now... for the better, and worse.
On topic: A little very back of the box non-English sounding chatter yesterday mid-morning on 19 super low and 34 low. Put a couple of calls out, but nothing back. It's been a very quiet weekend here so far. Really do hope the sporadic E picks up a bit soon.

off topic again sorry: I was the same as Alan looked apon as thick ( same age group and era ) especially as I was the same with my numbers as my reading and writing ,plus it didn't help that teachers back then like to cane or slipper kids for the slightest thing they did wrong.
on topic : Neal what mode on 19 s.low did you hear voices mate ?

Flip me lads, the off-topic stuff is an eye opener! Back at school I was an excellent reader, excelled at mathematics and for all intents and purposes 'the model student'. Therefore I was routinely bullied, had no friends and often got a slipper or cane thrashing for smart-mouthing the teachers, (who often knew sod all anyway in my own opinion so hence the thrashings!) Wouldn't mind, but I was a council estate kid, in and out of care and went to more schools than I had hot dinners...
Hence why I told my kids to 'keep under the radar' when they were at school. Thank god times have changed. (The cane frigging hurt!)
Anyway - On Topic Nothing to report my way on the old CB frequencies...occasional back of the box flurries. Roll on the summer's sporadic E....we're getting closer!

Hi all,
Had some radio time today since the winter shut down (too cold to be out there when its cold and too tight to put heater on) but not much heard other than some locals chatting on t5..
Got 2 weeks annual leave to use up before next year leave starts so I'm hopeful for some decent conditions this and next week but if nowt else it's going to be decent weather for the next few day's.
Beam back down so just the Vector 4k doing the job for a while..
