Ok it looks like my Uniden Bearcat is on the way out with the fading LCD screen issue, it's a regular problem with these and it's a bummer as I like the thing, only today got out to central Portugal. So the question is what to get next. I'm thinking on something like the Alinco /kpo DX 5000 platform or similar. I'm not really struck on the CRT models or similar with the mode buttons, prefer the twiddling the knobs lol but need something that I can crank the RF output down to run a 100 watt amp. Im using a 4 ft Flexi stick for a antenna.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Regards

i'm buying the crt ss 6900n v7 and i'm buying it because there is hardly any electronic menu on it and has most of the functions using buttons and knobs ... i was going to buy the 9900 but it is mostly electronic set up .... the dx5000 is the same as the crt ss 6900 as far as i'm aware ...

6900 would be the one for me as well. As said above there are a few radios that have different branding but are the same radio.

I am old lol and would rather turn a knob than press many buttons then forget where the setting was.
