Is it happening this year?
Can’t see any posts regarding one, or maybe I’ve missed it.
Cheers,

I hope so John but I haven't heard anything yet either.
Craig (Sydthecat) organised it before but he must be busy as I haven't seen him around recently. I'll give a shout out.Â

I'd be interested too as 10 is still my fav band to date. That said, I am spreading myself pretty thin, trying many new areas of radio this year, so I am not going to be any major competition or even a midfielder in the scoring as my 11m challenge efforts show.
Throwing a couple of thoughts out there to John, Victor, Craig and anyone else who is interested... Would it be a good idea to have more than one score table e.g. Phone, Digi, and CW to open it up to other types of operators? It might attract more participants but also keep it fair to the phone ops who "probably" will amount less QSOs than the digi ops. Understand too if everyone wants to keep the challenge "as is" so not to spoil the tradition.
Whether just phone mode and same conditions as previous years, or with the addition of other modes and score boards, I appreciate it is additional work for an admin to start and keep up together. Just putting it out there that I am happy to help if anyone wants me to. I, or anyone, should be able to setup initial posts on the forum for a couple of 10m challenge threads, one with the rules and for everyone to post their scores and the other for the leader board(s). The original thread poster has edit rights so can do the updating of the scores, so only would need an admin person to sticky the threads (if needed) and take over the scores updating if the original poster disappears.
Everyone do let know your thoughts. I am happy to help out and set up and start the challenge if the group or admins want me to.

Hi Neal,
Really appreciate you putting yourself out there with offers of help with such events.
As admins we do all we can but juggle our time around other commitments some of them obviously coming before anything else.
As mentioned to John above I'll give a shout out to the rest of the team and I'll put forward your ideas. (With a link to here.)
It might become a lot more work with multiple modes and then there's the debate of the 'challenge' with SSB modes being the greater challenge in practice. (With a beam and 50 Watts plus you could probably pick digital contacts off like flies! Hardly fair to all.) We don't have a full RSGB team behind us like other events on air so additional categories would be much more work. After all it's mostly set up for a bit of fun than anything else.
If it encourages people into varying or expanding their interests then it's all good.
I know that this event has seen me work hard on a new microphone/headset (more DIY) plus some additional voice processing circuitry to better enhance my SSB abilities. I need every bit of help with my QRP fun!
Thanks again.
All the best, Victor

Good points, and no worries, just putting ideas out there. Even though I can't be at home on the radio as often as I'd like to join in with challenges, I do have access to the net from work and can be available to do any updating of challenge threads etc if there was ever the call for it.

Thank you Victor, I have replied.
All, I will probably be running the challenge this year. I will look to post the leaderboard and score posting threads at some point today unless another admin takes over. Rules will be similar to previous years, 1 point per DXCC entity, phone only... unless any of you shout and want a separate leaderboard for digi or other modes. Do let know.
If you want to take part this year, please can you leave your name / ham callsign below in thread. Thanks

April 1st to Aug 31st. 1 point per unique DXCC. Check out last years score posting thread of how to clearly show your contacts.
Setup at quite short notice, so don't feel excluded if you spot the challenge after it's underway and want to join in. Due to the nature of the challenge it can get harder to work new DXCC as the challenge progresses, so joining in a month or more in you'll probably in with a good chance of doing well.
If you want to take part then post your name / callsign below.
Good luck!

Hello Neal,
Great work on setting up the 10m summer challenge. The only reason I won't be signing up is because I am not licensed.
Good luck to everyone and I hope the dx gods will be smiling on you. Have fun chaps.

Sorry about this late post, just got home from the annual booze filled weekend in Scotland with my mates up there.
Neal, I’d be grateful if you could add me to the participants list please. Â It may be a day or so before I dare venture upstairs to the shack, as I need to earn more Brownie Points issued by the XYL to replace those used in my trip up north …

Three with Rwanda logged. Well done, I'm so jealous.
I've just updated the League Table. I won't post every time I update it as I have and will continue to update it quite frequently.

Hi Alan. Were you asking what mode the Rwanda contacts were on or what the challenge is on? It's phone modes for both, so they got Rwanda using SSB. Bloomin' well done! I still haven't even heard Rwanda on SSB.
As I wrote before, I am more than happy to setup and maintain a second separate table for digi if you would like. No one else has said they would want it yet, but I am doing a little FT8/4 on 10m so I could join in with you.. got a feeling you'd thrash me though lol

We're just over a month in to the challenge and two broken the half century points already. Well done Craig and Al, and thanks to everyone else for joining in, some great contacts have been made.
Still early days and lots of time to play. If you are new to CT and have a ham licence and want to join in the fun, just post your details in this thread and I will put you on the board. If you've just obtained, or due shortly to obtain, your foundation licence (tech being the closest equivalent in the US) then it's a great time of year to get on 10m with Sporadic E upon us.
