I agree with you there John bless you mate. Our little Charlotte is the youngest of six spread across a wide age range and I've been lucky through largely unfortunate events to spend a lot of time with them than I would've had opportunity otherwise. My very best to you and family there.
How did the short skip go everyone?
Was it mostly Spain and did you get to enjoy it all even though repeats wouldn't add points.
Congratulations on the six grandchildren! Only the three for us, with Ruby living just around the corner, but unfortunately the twins who are 12 live in Switzerland, so we only see them three or four times a year. A little short skip to Italy half an hour ago, but nothing else down here in Gods county at present…

Nice one John. Not a good direction for me from home. Since obtaining my license I have only had one contact to there, and that was on 17m using FT4.

Cheers Neal. This is only my third QSO into South Africa this time around. When I had my beam years ago I could work ZS fairly well, but it’s a lot more of a struggle now as only the top half of the T2LT clears the house to the south…

Good catch Neal!
I’ve not heard hardly anything from the east since logging the 4X a few days ago.
It’ll probably vastly improve on 10 Metres SSB from next Monday as we’re off to Scotland on a coach tour for six days!
I’ll be taking my 2 watts Albrecht 2990 handheld with me to see if I can work anything on 10, 11, or 12 Metres.
I’ll also be taking my virtually unused Baofeng UV5RC to attempt my first contacts ever on 2 Metres and/or 70cms. I bought it a couple of months ago to take with me when I go out walking in the countryside during the summer, but have yet to hear anything at all on it here in Barnstaple apart from some locals on the regular net discussing their gardens and their various ailments on the GB3ND repeater !!

Indonesia, Thailand, and China were also coming through well around the same time. I tried hard for those, but sadly not a bite.
Hope you have a nice time week. There's no reason why you shouldn't get some contacts on the Albrecht 2990, 14AE002 Nico on youtube is doing great things with his, albeit on 11m. I notice he uses a trailing ground wire which may help him. I have no idea what the v/uhf scene is like up there but you'll surely pickup something on the uv5r if you get out in the open.

China is the furthest east I’ve worked this time around, but that was on 15 Metres SSB with my EFLW. Yes I belong to the Albrecht 2990 FB group, Nico is a great guy. I’ve been a ham for 38 years, but I’m still a VHF/UHF virgin!
