Ray another great Southern and south coast SSB net,As you said conditions were far from fantastic but the dropping temperatures certainly made it a lot more bearable. Sorry for the sudden and unexpected disappearance towards the end of the net,As I moved the car forward 3 feet and pulled the extension lead out. Being serious if that’s possible the fuse decided to give up the ghost and pop No doubt a combination of my first class wiring and dragging the radio from the dash an hour before. Keep up the fantastic job and speak soon. Cheers Tom. 26CT4029

. Hi Tom Thursday was a funny old night with the flat conditions, still it was nice not to have 1 & 13 divisions on FM & SSB. Your gonna have to replace the extension lead with something you can plug into the street lighting 🤪 and as an experienced radio operator, don't you carry a few spare fuses in your car just in case something blows Why didn't you put a 446 beam on top of your 11m beam? Catch you later Tom. 73 Ray 2290

. Welcome to my my report of the Southern Area & South Coast Net.
The net is held every Thursday night and is scheduled to start at 20.00 Hrs, 8 o'clock BST or 20.00 UTC The net can be found on channel 39 USB FCC (mid-block) or 27.395MHz USB.
My location was going to be Radio Corner Ashdown Forest, but this was already being used by a licenced operator, so being true to my word and not wanting to interfere with his radio night, I left him to it and went off to seek another location. (I hope karma pays me back with a like minded gesture)
So on I went visiting car park after car park, all busy with cars and visitors, so I ended up at a location closer to home on the Kent Surrey border.
With an hour wasted finding a spot to set up, I got the Anytone AT-6666 connected to the Sirio 4000 and away I went.
Before the list, a thank you to Roz AMC 02 who acted as my 2nd in command and started the net
Now on we go with the list of stations heard and or worked by the net, all stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.
AMC 02--Roz--Devils Dyke--West Sussex--Net starter CT 4515--John--Ditchling Beacon--East Sussex CT 4013--Tony--Brighton--East Sussex CT 2621--Rob--Ditchling Beacon--East Sussex--Welcome back CM 01--Jason--Shooters Hill--Southeast London--Nicking CT 4029 Tom's spot CCA 20--Charlie--Hassocks--East Sussex CT 4362--Chris--Reigate Town--Surrey WT 18--Vic--Devils Dyke--West Sussex--Had an eyeball with Roz GT 67--Danny--Crawley--West Sussex KH 175--Kevin--Crawley--West Sussex OM 001--Graham--Burgess Hill--West Sussex GB 23--Paul--Gatwick--West Sussex KP 441--Steve--Henfield--West Sussex and me, CI 2290--Ray--Near Oxted--Surrey--With a pen ️ and paper.

Hi Daren, You just never know! Myself and at least two other Brighton breakers can chat to Ray on the net from our homebases, as your details look as if you are mobile you shouldn't have a problem.

Hi Daren
Looking at your profile, you use a Audioline/Uniden 200. Do you have a UK/EU SSB radio or a HF radio capable of SSB? Which hill can you get too, Firle Beacon, Ditchling Beacon, Race coarse Hill, Truleigh Hill? All these I can hear on the forest

As Tony has said, there are 2 or more hombase stations in Brighton and 1 in Shoreham that I can talk to from Ashdown Forest. So we are all looking forward to chatting with you soon

. Hello all and welcome
Here is my report for the Southern Area & South Coast SSB net held on the 25th of August 2022. The net can be found on channel 39 USB mid-block or 27.395 USB.
My location for the net was Radio Corner Ashdown Forest, East Sussex, which I was sharing with some amateur astronomers.
My equipment for the night was the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic) and the Solarcon A99.
The weather on the night was cooler than previous weeks due to the thunder storm we had in the morning.
The band conditions were not as noisy as other weeks but there was some skip coming in and later on there was some good ground wave.
Now for the list of stations that called in. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

. Hello and welcome to my report for the Southern Area and South Coast SSB net held on the 01-09-2022.
The net started about 8 o'clock in the evening and was on 27.395 USB or channel 39 USB mid-block or the channel 39 USB FCC
My location was Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest in the County of East Sussex.
The weather on the night was rain with thunder and lightning . Making it interesting having a 18 foot Solarcon A99 on a 8 foot pole sticking up in the air!
My set up was the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic) and the fore mentioned Solarcon.
The band conditions were MAD . I had 1 & 13 divisions hitting 5,6,7 on my signal meter at time and almost clear FM audio on SSB. At one point in the night there was some whistling and beep beep beeping between 1, 13 & 26 division (what an interesting 3 way). So with less than perfect conditions on 27.395 I reluctantly moved the net to a different frequency (channel) and we ended up on 27.025 USB. Yes who would have thought the the US super bowl channel would have been empty.
Now on with the list of stations that called in and were worked or heard by the net. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.
CT 4362--Chris--Reigate Town--Surrey-- AMC 02--Roz--Devils Dyke--West Sussex--Net starter and 2nd in command CT 1829--Dean--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex CT 3466--Ray C5--Crowhurst--Surrey MR 121--Matt--Copthorne--West Sussex GB 23--Paul--Gatwick--West Sussex CT 5588--Chris on the bridge--Welly Garden Centre--Hertfordshire CT 4029--Tom--Blackheath--South East London
161 OS 219 mobile--Janek--Poland 1 & 13 divisions for the whistles and beeps
CT 4594--Steve R--Rochester--Kent--Showing off his new CT callsign CT 4169--Martin--Hastings--Kent LT 727--Dave--Elstree--Hertfordshire LT 70--Brian--Erith--Kent--Welcome to the net and me CI 2290--Ray--Radio Corner Ashdown Forest--East Sussex
That rounds up the list of stations that called in. Thank you all for sticking with us through the difficult conditions and thank you to those who looked and found us when we moved

You're not wrong Ray, it was the worst for me in a very long time. I tuned in about 8pm and and the first person I actually heard was your 'Net starter and 2nd in command' who's signal was well down on the usual for her and distorted! I know there was at least one other in the back of the box, then your good self but I was ony getting about 1 in 10 words.
About 10.30ish John CT 4515 and myself met on our usual late night channel and he said all he could hear from his home qth was your roger bleep.

Disappointed in the conditions Ray as well my equipment. Fingers firmly crossed for next week. I wonder if Roz did ever test the two 'mobile' radios at her home QTH as we suggested, she never did contact me for a check and report!
Hopefully catch you Monday on Ray on PMR

Welcome to my report for the Southern Area & South Coast Net held on Thursday 08-08-2022.
My location was a dark and windy Ashdown Forest with rain always lurking in the background.
The net started at about 8 o'clock and is on channel 39 USB FFC or 27.395Mhz USB
My set up was the Anytone AT-6666 and a Solarcon A99, power output was an uncalibrated maximum of 40 watts on the whistle.

Hello Tom
I think it was the first time I have had 5 bars of noise up on the forest, which wasn't caused by a car going past with LED headlights or a Tesla!
As the night went on my conditions did start to improve, but by then most had drifted off.
What I didn't put in the report was the hurried take down on the antenna due to a loud rumble of thunder with no lightning (I took that as a sign to pack up. LOL)
Catch you later, 73

. Hello all
Here is my report for the Southern Area & South Coast SSB net held on Thursday 15/09/2022
To add a bit of spice to life, I chose to head towards Devils Dyke, which is just outside of Brighton, and upon my arrival was surprised to meet up with Dean CT 1829 who had decided to try somewhere different. So, we had chat about the news of the day and then combined our stations. Dean set up his CRT 9900 and little blue box and we combined that with my Solarcon up on a pole. The first thing we heard was good old USA on the super bowl
This is my list of stations heard and or worked by the net. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Here is my report of the Southern Area & South Coast SSB net held on Thursday 22-09-2022.
The net is held on 27.395 USB or channel 27 USB FCC and is scheduled to start at 20:00 BST or there abouts.
The weather mild and cloudy
After my trip last week, I was back at Radio Corner on Ashdown Forest with the Anytone AT-6666 and the Solarcon up on a pole.
The band conditions were noise with the normal snap, crackle, pop, beeps, voices and da da dee's. This made, what should have been easy contacts difficult at the beginning of the night. But thanks to the near perfect prediction of Chris CT 5588 the noise did abruptly stop.
Now on with the stations that called in and were heard and or worked by the net.

Hello all
Here is my report of the Southern Area and South Coast net held on Thursday the 6th of October 2022
The net is scheduled to start at 8 o'clock but sometimes runs late depending on what time I can get away from work and can be found on channel 39 mid-block or 27.395 using the mode of USB
My location for the night was Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex and the set up was a Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic) and a Solarcon A99. The weather was dry, clear sky and a 3/4 moon hanging bright in the sky.
The band conditions were noisy as always.
Now on with the list of stations that were heard and or worked by the net. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Hello and welcome
Here is my report for the Southern Area and South Coast net held on Thursday 13th of October 2022.
My location was a cloudy and damp Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex. My set up was the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic) and a Solarcon A99 vertical antenna.
The channel was full of the USA booming in with South Carolina, Maine, New York state being heard and answering back to our CQ DX calls before being lost in the inevitable pile up and noise.
With so much happening on LSB, the net stayed on LSB for the rest of the night.
Now for the list of stations the called in and were heard and or worked by the net. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.
