Enjoyed the short skip this morning and got all UK except Wales - but I'll keep at it. Scotland and Ireland coming in to northern France here very strong indeed. I'm still using the G90 20w with the random wire.

Yep, really good short skip or maybe spad E today. Happy to get the difficult ones logged. I did hear you when you worked F5RAG albeit way down in the noise.

Nice one. I caught him again this evening too. He is in my logbook a few times, and was actually the person I had my second ever QSO with after getting my licence.
A few nice QSOs this evening on 10m, but just one more point for the challenge.

I only caught the last few minutes of the spad E. I need a W station for all GB so when I heard a 2w0 station at 5-9 + We exchanged callsigns then he just faded into the noise I'm using a paper log and didn't note (or remember) his call so I can't claim him. Ah well, next time.

Challenge on then! let's see who's first to get Wales. Bet it will be you. I'm only 30 miles from the Welsh border, but rarely hear anyone. Didn't get a Wales in the challenge last year.

Don't know if that will happen lol, the amount of time I can get on the radio for the challenge this year is less than last year and so can't dedicate hours to try break through pileups. Very happy to have manged what I have though and have had some great long and interesting QSOs, not just 59s this year.
Weekend just gone was the King of Spain contest which brought a lot of activity on the band. The next significant contest I believe is the RSGB IOTA on 27/28 July. In my short ham life have learned that one usually brings out a few interesting entities to work. One for us all to bookmark.

Same My self plan for a long time was to get a Full call so I could remote my home station from work. That was privileged to all UK licence classes with the recent Ofcom changes and so I've tried it. My work headset is very poor (just bearable for teams/zoom calls) and the lag from company internet through all the security features can mean up to a 15 second delay at some points. That, and my work is busy (meaning I have to actually work ) means for now I continue as I have done to date.. mostly just after work and on weekends some times in between other life demands.
I'm not fazed, it just makes every contact I do make all the more special and I am sure it's the same for you. Well done for finding a moment to get on the radio and getting a point for the challenge yesterday!

You want to give up that work malarky, it's not good for you or the hobby
Seriously, I had more leisure time when I worked than I have now living in a 200+ year old property on 2 acres in rural France!
As an aside, we've been repairing my garden cabin so hopefully I'll have a shack soon

Good Euro E's have been sparse the past couple of weeks, at least during the times I have been able to operate. A couple of weeks back I mentioned the IOTA contest coming up on 27/28 July where hopefully some interesting stations will pop up on the band. I had however forgotten about this week's contest which is quite a big one...
The IARU HF Contest starts from 12:00 UTC, ends tomorrow same time. The exchange for most of us is RST + ITU zone number. Don't know if I will be about for much of it as have a non-radio activity planned. Good luck if any of you take part competitively or casually and hope you get a point or more for the board.
