Nice one Ray. I managed to log on the North West PMR net last Sunday night.
Drove up higher from my QTH.
Had a copy on Muppet band channel 17 then onto PMR.
Logged in and decided to go up a local mountain 961 feet. Although not quite at the top. Lots of snow lol.

I think there were 33 logged when I left around 8:15. They envisage next Sunday the last of the year due to Christmas and new year's day, although one or two did mention they would still be on.

I decided to remove my CB and PMR radio from the cold the next day, and bring them in the house , I also removed the Magmount and cleaned it.

I forgot to try a sideband shout to get some points on the board for the challenge but hey ho. I had some homebrew Irish stout waiting for me to sample at home 😁

All the best and 73's 👍🏼

I guess you enjoyed an early night back home Ray, but must say I thought you were dedicated (Mad Laughing ) going to the forest under such cold conditions.

All the very best to you and your radio passions,

Hi Victor

"Gutted" 😠 was not the only word to describe my feelings at that time.

The early journey home was more dangerous than being on the forest🌳
With so many abandoned cars🚙🚗🏎️  and more deer 🦌🦌🦌on the road, it did take a bit longer than usual.

Getting home 🏠 early did feel strange and I could get use to it very quickly with this cold ❄ weather.

My passion 💓 for radio is strong, dented, but strong 😃

Cheers

Hi Nige

Sounds like you had a good radio day and well done for braving the mountain and the weather 👍

Have you thought about posting you logs and adventures on CT like me and other have done before me?

I have to bring the radios in after ever time I use them. Condensation forms in the back of the van and drips down on everything ☹

You can use AM, FM or SSB on the challenge So one of your English (26 division) contacts is your first point and if you talked to someone in Wales (163 division) that would/will be a second point.

73 and stay safe when your on the mountains

Hi Tony

Yes, an abrupt silence. . . . .

The early night did feel strange and is something that I could get use to very quickly.

Some say dedication is one step away from madness, but I would need to talk to the voices in my head to confirm this 😆😆

I did prepare for a night out if things went wrong. My kit list had extra clothing, blanks for keeping warm or as a mat to help get out of the snow, shovel, 12 hours of food, cooker and cookware, fork, knife and spoon, first aid kit, water or just melt the snow (with water purification tablets), radio and phone for emergency comms and if the worst happened, people know I would be between the forest and home.

Wow, a lot of kit Ray.
I took my vape and mobile phone 👍🏼🤣

Ok there are a couple of coats, gloves, hats, a car blanket, wellies, a small metal detecting shovel and a first aid kit among other things in the boot 😁

And I was within a stones throw of the village and have greenflag lol.

Yes I've thought of logging it Ray but most callsigns pass me by whilst I'm fumbling with my notepad and glasses in the dim light 👍🏼🤣

Yes a lot of kit, but worth it if something goes wrong, fingers crossed 🤞it doesn't.

It's not easy keeping a log, but when I started, I would just write down name and location and as the night goes on added the callsign as it was said to other stations, as for light, a headtorch hanging from the sun visor (it doesn't interfere with my glasses😉)

I mainly don't get out much as my old dog will be 15 next month and on heart tablets now. She doesn't like the car anymore. And of course it's too cold now. Also she's not keen on me leaving her side.
I can't go to the toilet without her barking at the foot of the stairs lol.

Oh hello, fancy meeting you here.

santa santa Merry Christmas from the South Coast PMR net aka The Monday Night PMR net santa santa

Welcome to another episode of Ray reviews the last PMR net before Christmas

or

"Oh bother, I think it's broken!"

The net was held on Monday 19th of December 2022 and was on channel 14 or 446.16875MHz using no CTCSS tones so that it's open to anyone.

My location was a damp, rainy ☔, wet, cold 🥶 and windy Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest 🌳🎄🌲 in the county of East Sussex and what a difference 7 days make!
Last week I was in shorts walking in the snow now its puddles & mud.

The set up was the QYT KT 8900D with a Dean built GPA up on a mast.

Now on with list of stations that called in & were heard and or worked by the net.

CT 3466--Ray C5--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex--Camper van rocking in the wind
KP 441--Steve--Ditchling Beacon--East Sussex--Warming up the spot
CT 1033--Chris--Tonbridge--Kent--Listening to his creaking radio shack
CT 4362--Chris--Reigate Town--Surrey
TK 08--George--Tonbridge--Kent
London Calling--Mark--Leyton--East London
OM 001--Graham--Burgess Hill--West Sussex
CT 4657--Paul M--Vigo Village--Kent
Speed Bird--Russell--Reigate Hill--Surrey--Missing the Ark Royal 🚢
Zoe M--From Santa's santa  lap singing Christmas 🎄 songs
CT 4281 (The Hadlow Hustler)--Dick--Hadlow--Kent
CT 4515--John--Ditchling Beacon--East Sussex--Warmed up by KP 441
TW 460--Richard--Royal Tunbridge Wells--Kent
and not forgetting me, CT 2290--Ray--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex--The one with the pen 🖊️ & paper 📃

So the net got underway just after 8 o'clock 🕗 and all was going well, until I started to receive radio reports of bad audio and little to no signal.
Had the cheap Chinese radio given up on me? Was it the weather? Had the radio defaulted to low power because of a low battery voltage or was it something more sinister?
After a quick check of everything in the mobile shack, it was time to brave the wind and rain and check the antenna.

This is what I found  affraid

South Coast PMR net report - Page 11 20221211

After years of use, abuse and being stood on, the mast gave up in the wind/gales.
But being resourceful, the mast was fixed and back up, but a bit shorter.

Thank you all who called in, and had a giggle at my mast problems and the suggestions on how to 'get it back up'

Some of the topics chatted about were, tanks in strange places and how much to run them in the current climate, the weather, hurricane 🌀 bunkers, guns 🔫 and gun law, wood burning stoves, my mast and Nigel Camper Van Man being missing for the second week.

That wraps up another PMR report.

You'll be needing some antenna Viagra there Ray mate! Wink

I wouldn't worry, my antenna is floppy, mostly horizontal, droops at the ends and hidden from public view. Very Happy

Looked up antenna Viagra on the interweb and could only find 1 division antenna lube for a longer over!! 🤣🤣

But on a positive note, I did get a report from station Whiskey Zero Romeo Mike (W0RM) that when my antenna was in the diagonal position, I gave him a warming 5 & 9 🤣🤣

Thank you for the Christmas wishes and belated Merry Christmas to you Victor.

Only 1 net left for 2022 and i had better get ready for it

Hello all and welcome to the 1st PMR review of 2023

Today's review is sponsored by the January Joke Club, so here is the 1st joke of the review.

Did you hear about the crab 🦀 who was accursed or promoting his own shellfish interests?

The net was held on Monday 02-01-2023 form the location of Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest 🌳 in East Sussex.
If you are new to this thread, the net can be found on channel 14 or 446.16875 MHz and uses no CTCSS tones so this makes it open to all.

I was in a restaurant the other day, and asked the waiter for a bottle of wine. He said "what year sir?", I said "now would be nice"

The net starts at about 8 o'clock 🕗 in the evening, depending who is on or when I arrive and finishes about 11ish 🕚

My set up for the night belonged to Dean CT 1829 who was testing out his new mast, new rotator and beam.

Now we have the when, where, what time and set up, on with the list of stations heard and or worked by the net

CT 1829--Dean--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex
CT 3466--Ray C5--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex
CT 2072--Steve T--Wrotham Hill--Kent
CT 2236--Dan--Wrotham Hill--Kent
CT 4281 aka The Hadlow Hustler--Dick--Hadlow
Speed Bird--Russell--Reigate Hill--Surrey
TK 08--George--Tonbridge--Kent
CT 4362--Chris--Reigate Town--Surrey
D 31--Adam--Hastings--East Sussex
CT 4013--Tony--Brighton--East Sussex
CT 4515--John--Ditchling Beacon--East Sussex
AMC 1966--Boris--Bexhill--East Sussex
TW 460--Richard--Royal Tunbridge Wells--Kent
GM 593--Graham--Medway Towns--Kent
And me CT 2290--Ray--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex

What's red and moves up and down? A tomato in a lift.

Thank you who called in and sorry if you tried and wasn't heard.

Some of the topics of conversation, me not in shorts, Dean's new shiny rotator, children with their new radios given for Christmas and the adults making noise but unable to speak

That wraps up this net review, so one last sweet joke before the end

Why did the M & M's go to school? Because they wanted to be a Smarties

Hello all and welcome

Here is another episode of Ray reviews the Monday night PMR net held on the 9th of January 2023

or

"Can the jokes get any better?"

The net can be found on channel 14 or 446.16875 MHz and starts around 20:00 Hrs, 8 o'clock GMT 🕗 or 20:00 UTC and is open to everyone (even the clowns clown) as we don't use any CTCSS tone or the like.

How much does a chimney cost?
Nothing, it's on the house.

My location was a cold, clear Radio Corner lit by a 3/4 moon 🌖 and swept by a gentle breeze.

Equipment used on the night belonged to Dean CT 1829 and it was the Retevis 95, mast & beam.

Bobs wife has crashed the car again.
She told the police the man she collided with was drinking a can of Special Brew and talking on his mobile phone.
The police said he can do what he wants in his own living room!

Now on with the list of stations that called in and were heard and or worked by the net.

CT 1829--Dean--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex

Why Specsavers?
Have they started to sell radio's as well as glasses? 😆

When you say the old radio is "no longer with us" what did you do with it out of interest? 🤔

Hello all and welcome

Here is another, Ray reviews the Monday night South Coast PMR net

or

"Can the jokes get any worse?"

The net was held on Monday 16-01-2023 and started at 8 o'clock 🕗 or 20:00 Hrs.

Did you about the man who invented the knock knock joke.
He won the "no bell" prize.

The net can be found on channel 14 or 446.16875 MHz and uses no CTCSS tones or the like, so it's open to all who can press a PTT button.

My location for the night was Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest 🌳 in the county of East Sussex and equipment used was the QYT KT 8900 D and the Dean (CT 1829) made GPA on a fibre glass pole.

The weather was cold 🥶, with a clear sky and the star constellation of Orion filling the view from the mobile radio shack.

Albert went to the doctors yesterday complaining he felt like a piece of luggage.
The doctor said it was the worse case he had ever seen.

Now on with the list of stations that were heard and or worked by the net.

CT 1829--Dean--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex--Shotgun with Ray C5

CT 4362--Chris--Reigate Town--Surrey
KP 441--Steve--Devils Dyke--West Sussex
CT 4515--John--Ditchling Beacon--East Sussex

The other day I went into CO-OP to get a box of OXO cubes
Only to find they had run out of stock

CT 4657--Paul M--Near Brands Hatch--Kent
TE 032--Adam--Southend on Sea--Essex
CT 2072--Steve T--Tonbridge--Kent
CT 4013--Tony--Brighton--East Sussex
London Calling--Mark--Leyton--East London
D31--Adam--Hastings--East Sussex
and me CT 2290--Ray--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex--in the chair 🪑 with pen 🖊️ and paper 📄

As always, thanks to all who called in and sorry if you tried and your call wasn't heard and thanks for reading this review too!

Here are some of the topics of the night. Soho, lap dancing clubs and London adult entertainment venues, the temperature, listening to shop watch radio systems, Nigel (C V M) walking disused railway tracks in Africa, Paul M making a new head lamp out of 2 old ones and powering it with a cordless drill battery and weather balloons.

My mate, Colin the Cannibal has just come back from holiday, I said to him what happened to your arm?
He said he'd gone self catering  affraid

Before I forget, hats off to Paul M for channelling his inner Nigel and mentioning resistors and diodes as well 😆

That about wraps up this episode

The outside temperature just after 8 o'clock that evening

Hello and greetings

Welcome to another episode of Ray reviews the Monday Night PMR net

or

"another week another batch of jokes"

The net is held on a Monday night and can be found on channel 14 (446.16875 MHz) and is open to all as no CTCSS tones are used.

I used my Tesco Clubcard to scrape the ice of my windscreen.
It was disappointing as I only got 10% off!

My location for the night was Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌳 Forest in the county of East Sussex and the set was the QYT KT-8900D and the return of the £1 mag mount.

The weather was cold and cloudy and at the start of the net the temperature was about 4 degrees C and at the end it had fallen to just above 2 degrees C

There are 3 types of people in this world, those who can count and those who can't.

At 8 o'clock 🕗 the net officially started, so here is the list of stations that called in and were heard and or worked by the net.

CT 1829--Dean--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex--1st location of the night
D 31--Adam--Hastings--East Sussex
KP 441--Steve--Mobile--West Sussex 🚗
CT 1033--Chris--Tonbridge--Kent
TK 08--George--Tonbridge--Kent
OM 001--Graham--Burgess Hill--West Sussex
CT 4281 aka The Hadlow Hustler--Dick--Hadlow--Kent

Alberts wife suggested spicing up there love life by playing "Doctors and Nurses"
So Albert put her on a trolly and left her in the hallway for 48 hours.

CT 2072--Steve T--Tonbridge--Kent
CT 4657--Paul M--Near Brands Hatch--Kent
CT 4013--Tony--Brighton--East Sussex
CT 4515--John--Ditchling Beacon--East Sussex
CT 1829--Dean--Edenbridge--Kent--2nd location of the night
London Calling--Mark--Leyton--East London
and me CT 2290--Ray--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex--With the paper 📄 & pen 🖊

Thank you all called in and sorry if you tried and wasn't heard.

Here are some of the topics of conversation.

🎉 Congratulations to Dean who announced that he has passed his foundation exam and will soon be receiving his M7 callsign 🎉

How will PMR work if you turn your beam to the flatside?
The right technique to dunk chocolate biscuits 🍪 without causing them to break up in your tea 🍵 or coffee ☕

That's it for this episode, only one more January Joker episode to go before we move into February

Why did the can crusher quit his job?
Because it was soda pressing.

Hello all and welcome

Here is another episode of Ray reviews the Monday night PMR net

or

"jokes, you want more jokes!"

What do you call someone who is happy on a Monday?
Retired.

The net was held on Monday the 30th of January 2023 and can be found on channel 14 (446.16875 MHZ), no CTCSS tones and NOT on digital.

The set up was the QYT KT-8900D and the 'Dean' made antenna up on a pole and my location was a cold but clear Ashdown Forest 🌳 in the county of East Sussex.

The net, I think, was started by Dean (CT1829) as I arrived fashionably late.

Here is my list of stations heard and or worked by the net.

Yesterday I was washing the car with my son.
He said, "dad can't you just use a sponge?"

KP 441--Steve--Henfield--West Sussex
CT 1829--Dean--Ashdown Forest 🌳--East Sussex--soon to be chairman in training (I kid you not)
C V M--Nigel--Ashdown Forest🌳--East Sussex
CT 2072--Steve T--Wrotham Hill--Kent
CT 2236--Dan--Wrotham Hill--Kent
CT 4657--Paul M--Near Brands Hatch--Kent
OM 001--Graham--Burgess Hill--West Sussex
CT 4362--Chris--Reigate Town--Surrey
CT 1033--Chris--Tonbridge--Kent
Keith--Isle of Sheppey--Kent

Save water.
Drink Coffee.

CT 3466--Ray C5--Crowhurst--Surrey
CT 4515--John--Ditchling Beacon--East Sussex
TK 08--George-Tonbridge--Kent
D 31--Adam--Hastings--East Sussex
CT 4013--Tony--Brighton--East Sussex
and me, CT 2290--Ray--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex--With the pen 🖊️ and paper 📄

Thank you all who called in (even the 1 on digital) and sorry if you tried and wasn't heard.

A bear walks into a bar and says "Can I have a Whiskey and . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Coke
The bartender asks, why the big pause?
The bear shrugged his shoulders and said, I don't know, I was born with them!

Here are some of the topics of conversation during the night.
Changing the mic socket on a Space U to a 4 or 6 pin socket, Nigel's trip to Africa, Dean and his homemade remote control for his rotator and the Reliant Robin and Kitten.

That brings us to the end of this episode
Thank you for reading and like "some people" on YouTube don't forget to smash the like button

73 till next time

This South Coast PMR net was held on Monday the 06/02/2023.

The net is scheduled to start 20.00 Hrs 🕗 or 8 o'clock PM, but you can try earlier as there is sometimes a pre-net chat.
My location for the night was a busy Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌳 Forest in the county of East Sussex
Checking Hepburn's DX info centre, it showed some promising colour over the Southeast corner of the UK and extending towards France with French stations being heard on channel 5 and 8.

On with the list of stations that called in and was heard and or worked by the net.

And me CT 2290--Ray--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex

Thank you all who called in and sorry if you tried and wasn't heard, please try again as you never know.

Here are some of the topics of conversation during the night the night.
The full moon 🌕, cheap/discount food, vinyl records, forgotten shops like, Bejams, International Stores, Maplin, Fine Fare, Timothy Whites, Tandy, Safeway and Dixons, the pirate radio ship of Radio Sutch and the Fox in the car park.

Before the review comes to an end there is 1 thing left to do. . . .

I saw a horse box yesterday
      It lost on points  lol!
