6900n programme cable

hi just wondering if these cable are reliable as bought one when i got radio used it to programme it all worked fine but today i went to change somethings in settings through the software but it does not connect just keeps saying to check connection and try again tried unstall software and reinstall but still not working and yes correct connection port is selected

They are notoriously temperamental, usually a driver issue. You need the correct Prolific driver for your version of windows. Been ages since I did my CRE8900 but if memory serves me right if windows updates the driver it stops working. (That might be a fabrication of my memory) Also make sure you have the right com port selected in the software it needs to be the same as windows assigns to your device.

I had something very similar with a UV5re, there are  you tube videos, and it was the driver
for the cable as Gary said if the pc updated it would replace the driver with the latest one which would not work with the cable. It simply meant replacing the driver manually with the correct one. Hope this helps to sort things.

no luck just keeps sayinf searching for communication settings then says check connection

Hi Steven, did you check the com port settings? Also uninstall the current driver and download the correct one from the prolific website.

Hi need to buy new cable was bored so i thought i will have a try fix it incase it had a broken wire and f#ck it altogether
