Did anyone take part in the 10m contest at the weekend in any capacity? So I could stay downstairs with my daughter I set a T2LT up in the garden in a bottom fed sloper configuration. Top was 7m.
I was going to set it up as an inverted V which would of had the feedpoint at about the same height as the V in the loft, but adjusting the tip was not enough to get the SWR in the right place. It needed the coil moving too and didn't want to faff with that in the cold so just kinda slung it up as a sloper.
I won't win any prizes in the contest, but it did work quite well and let me have some good fun. As well as DX it worked well for local too, worked M1T in Swindon and also an 11m op in Dursley, that's 15 miles and 18 miles respectively. Just one new entity, Aruba.

I'm starting the year trying new-to-me things with radio. Yesterday and today I've got setup to play with some digi modes (said I would try it last year and never did) and I've made a few FT8 contacts on 10m.
Well done Mike on D2UY! I tried a few times for that one but no success, it would of been a new one for me too if I had managed it. Like you, I did manage a HK though, and Columbia was a new one for me too, so very pleased with that one

Well done Neal and good to see you on the digi-modes.
I've managed to put up a temporary antenna setup giving me at least noise free operation from 20m to 10m. Will be needing to scrounge up some more wire though for the lower bands.

Well done on HK.
I tried D2 a lot before Christmas but no joy but funny thing this time I forgot to switch from the vertical and the Hustler made it. The Hustler also made it to the 7Q before I realised what was going on.
Main thing is never give up. Digital is a funny ol game and goes thru just when you think it will not.

Suppose it's my "silver lining" to being unable to get on/off the toilet without assistive devices for the last nine years. (I had Monty Python's dungeon scene from Life of Brian in mind then. )
Was expecting more performance lower down the HF bands with the antenna extended so surprised it boosted further up too. Many reception reports from across Asia but only managed to catch these few who were probably big-guns. Still, nice to get them in the log.
Spent the last couple of hours preparing for one of the grandchildren's birthdays, blowing balloons up becomes an Olympic event the older you get! Will be tied up the rest of the day with that but worth missing a bit of radio for.
Still a bit off from that DX100 Neal, they do say the first 50 is easy and then it gets much harder. (Just checked, 68 countries so far but without confirmations on all there's still some work needs doing yet.)
Cheers again Lads and all my best to you, Victor

Much appreciated Alan my friend. Teresa sends you a big hug and kiss.
She did a marvellous job of twisting together the pile of copper wire I scrounged together (speaker, mains, you name it!) and seeing some great results from her valiant efforts.
I think this may be the last time I get her to go up in the loft for me, we ain't getting any younger!

Well you've made a great start to getting the 100 Victor, and with those few recently highlighted contacts you have shown your antenna system is definitely working on the upper HF bands. As long as you get some radio time over the coming months I feel you'll manage a good few on 10m in the spring / summer skip.
Blowing up balloons is hard for me now, I use a hand pump
On FT8 managed Barbados and Mexico in the past few days. I haven't managed these two on SSB yet, even though they are in my direction I do best in.

Well done on those contacts Neal and really glad to hear you enjoying working those digimodes.
(They open exceptional results for us within our low power limits.)

My 10M journey since I started on digi modes: Feb 11th 2022 started and in the 4 weeks have had 202 QSO's in 35 Countries and my best so far:
9Y4DG FK90 Trinidad & Tobago FT4 ZS4JAN KG30 South Africa FT4 YD1FRU O133 Indonesia FT4 A41ZZ LL93 Oman FT4 KP4OMR Puerto Rico FT8 LW1DJL GF05 Argentina FT8 YV5DRN FK60 Venezuela FT8 7L4VYK QM05 Japan FT8
Maybe not spectacular but I'm really impressed with only10W and the Imax 2000 antenna. Onwards and Upwards Outwards.
