Fun evening guys! Lots of stations on from quite a few different countries on all modes on the band. Managed half a QSO to a Russian on AM and a German through a repeater. More importantly a few on SSB for this.
Pleased to get YU3AWA. If you don't know her, she is a youtuber and is pals with Raisa R1BIG / OH7BG. A YL always attracts a pileup and a youtuber too doubly so, so happy to break the pileup and have them both in my log now. I see some of you managed too, well done.
Special shout out to Al who used his 5 element weapon to beam over me into OE8TTR when I was calling him... next time I will shout louder!
And one for John.. I know digi isn't your thing, but surely a puppy / goat picture swapping session will sway you away from phone modes? Last non-point contact of today on 28.680...

I heard Maria in Serbia, but couldn’t break the pileup, it was like bees around a honey pot!
Yep! Was just posting a waffle saying just that lol

Well done on the TF Neal, I could just hear him but he wasn’t moving the meter, so didn’t bother trying to call. Didn’t know about the Belarus, I must pay more attention to QRZCQ!
Regarding the digimodes, TBH I’d rather stick red hot pins in my eyes!
I’m off to Malta on Thursday for a cultural long weekend (no, it’s a boozing session with the lads!) then coming back via Zurich to see one of my musical heroes, Bruce Springsteen in concert. No radio for a week, so you’re all guaranteed to have the best Es openings for years!

So I need to put an SSTV call out for you John with Bruce holding a pint glass? Only joking. Personally just trying lots of different things operations and electronics wise at the moment to help me learn.
Enjoy your travels. I am sure you'll be in awe when you see Bruce. I consider myself very lucky to have seen a couple of my musical heroes play live and remember the overwhelming feeling to this day. Don't worry, I don't think I'll be able to chase you down on the points as there's non-radio activities I am involved with over the coming days, none as exciting or interesting as you though.
I see the band activity carried on after I called it a night and Craig got another point, nice! The table is updated.

cheers Neal, Yes I’ve been lucky enough to see The Boss three times, always a brilliant gig from him. While I’m waiting for your SSTV I’ll be on FT8 73 for now

So where’s all the Es gone gents? Got home Thursday, switched on on Friday, nothing at all here. Yesterday was a few Italians hollering CONTEST, & the same this morning, Everything now disconnected since about 13:00 due to lightning in the area…

The higher bands seemed quite poor over the weekend. There was some 4metre Es Friday evening. Worked Norway, Finland, Estonia and Serbia but did not hear anything on ten.
No lightning yesterday during the day just a fair bit of rain in the afternoon. We did have several small thunderstorms from 2300 Saturday till around 0200 Sunday. I saw them leaving the French coast so every thing was pulled here before I went to bed.

Thought of you John the other day.. turned the car ignition on and Born in the USA was mid-play on the radio. Hope you enjoyed your concert.
I haven't had a lot of radio time over the past week or so, but when I have been on the conditions have not been at their best. I have had a few Spanish and Italian contacts, but not a lot else. I've observed a few very strong but short lived E's, e.g. I was waiting my turn for a Scottish station on Saturday who came up from no where at +20, but after less than 3 minutes... no fading, just disappeared, silence.

Cheers Neal, yes The Boss was brilliant as usual, & managed a three hour five minute gig without a break! Conditions on 10 are awful here again yesterday and so far today, the way things are going I may have to introduce myself to the old woman who is sat on my sofa watching TV most evenings and find out who she is…
